The hydroponics business in Grand Rapids is growing!
Growco Garden Supply is now open for business at their new expanded facility at 1042 Michigan St. in Grand Rapids (formally located in Eastown on Norwood Ave). Now in his eighth year in business, owner Jay Lawrence will continue to specialize in indoor gardening supplies, such as hydroponics systems and supplies, and horticultural growlights by Hydrofarm, Sunlight Supply, and Sunleafs. He's also got a huge assortment of plant nutrients, both chemical and organic for indoor as well as outdoor gardeners.
When asked what kind of customer Growco caters to, Jay responded: "We originally opened Growco to address the different needs for people that just want to garden, but may not have a big back yard to do it in. And then we began to notice the growing awareness of people to the chemical fertilizers, and pesticides that may be in their fruit and vegetables, so we began offering everything you could possibly need for organic gardening, and it's just gotten busier every year". Jay is assisted by a team of expert gardeners that are ready help out with any gardening related questions, and will be adding several new employees in the coming months.
Growco Garden Supply has also added a great selection of unusual varieties of orchid plants appealing to both collectors and the novice hobbiest alike, and will continue to carry a large selection of bonsai trees and related supplies as they've become known for in Grand Rapids. Seasonal bonsai classes are also being offered, and will be instructed by several award winning master bonsai artists.
Growco's new Grand Rapids location features an attached greenhouse filled with working hydroponics systems so customers can have a true "hands-on" soil-free gardening experience. Local teachers are always encouraged to call a Growco staff member to make arrangements to bring their classes in to Growco for hydroponics demonstrations which is a great learning experience for the kids.
