In connection with Momijigari: The Japanese Autumn Garden exhibit from October 15th to 24th, the New York Botanical Garden is pleased to offer the following classes:


INTRODUCTION TO IKEBANA (floral design class)


Join an Ikebana Master to explore an ancient and renowned form of traditional Japanese floral arrangement. Create your own Ikebana arrangement in class. Fri., Oct. 22, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.


THE ART OF CREATING A BONSAI LANDSCAPE: WORKSHOP


Create a bonsai forest with trees, grasses, stones, and moss in a bonsai pot. Take home your own bonsai creation. Sun., Oct. 31, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.


CREATING A JAPANESE-INSPIRED GARDEN


Discover the seasonal aspects of a Japanese garden. Observe how water and stones are used to suggest a natural landscape. Select American native plants for your Japanese-inspired garden. Wed., Nov. 10, 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.


CREATING A ZEN GARDEN: WORKSHOP


????Japanese gardens have elements that encourage quiet contemplation. Learn proper placement of plants and stones. Create a small-scale model garden to take home. Sun., Nov. 14, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
